Oh how I want you...

A wee fashion post. I love (some) vintage styled shoes, and these from Minnie Cooper would be the perfect additions to my wardrobe. I'm imagining patterned tights in interesting colours to wear with them. I'm going to just have to want because these beauties do not come cheap. They are almost $400 - and in New Zealand money, that is pricey. I have a feeling that if I had a pair I would wear them for years and years.

They do gorgeous boots too, but they cost even more, of course. I need new long boots for next winter. I have very specific requirements in a boot. I love the traditional knee length riding boot, but it is rare to find them to fit my rather sturdy shanks. Even rarer to find affordable leather boots in interesting colours (minus superfluous buckles and other metal trimmings) that fit the curvy calves of a fuller figured woman. I think, regardless of how plump I am, my shanks will always pose a problem when selecting long boots. I'm just built that way.

Interesting, the topic of fashion and body shape. People are all kinds of shapes and sizes, with such a fascinating array of proportions. I have women friends that range from about 5 foot and so small that they could buy children's clothing, right through to my two very tall 6 foot 2 friends, who just seem totally normal in size to me. I'm 168cm tall- around 5 foot 6 inches, which is apparently around average height for a woman in New Zealand. No wonder it is so tricky to find clothing to fit when I find, at my average height, that the length of clothing is often wrong. Then I've got my ample curves, a generous hourglass, to fit into clothing made for more straight up and down bodies. Don't get me started on shoe size either!

I can't do much about the shoe size, but I currently have a little project underway which is teaching me to fit clothing to my body. I am wearing a top I made last week right now! And it fits all of my curves due to some careful alterations to the pattern. All thanks to Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing.  The power is in my hands, and it feels good.

I LOVE those shoes too...they are gorgeous. The problem would be deciding which colour to get.
I think you should treat yourself to a pair for Christmas.

Lets see a photo of your new hand crafted top!!! Please!!!
