Happy Anniversary to Us

I had a busy time after school buying thirteen little presents for John to celebrate our 13th anniversary. My favourite find was a hanging basket of pansies with great big happy faces. I promise to post a picture once they are enthusiastically flowering. I got him a variety of treats that I know he likes. I would have to say being married to me has probably been more of a challenge for John than it has been for me. He is very placid and calm compared to my highly strung personality.

I am thinking back to our wedding day. We were so young! Spring is officially here in September, but the weather was divine. The sun was shining and the blossom trees were out. I wore a beautiful cream silk dress based on one I found in English Country Living- still my favourite magazine.

Thirteen years on we have a little family, although not in the usual sense. Here is Miss Dog being a ferocious opponent during a gardening session. You should hear the growling!

And here are the terrible two relaxing together by the fire. It is unusual to see them together like this because Miss Dog can't resist playing with Monty. He bites her eyebrows in revenge.

Have a lovely week! I have plans to make a bag. Wish me luck.

Spring at last!

Spring is here! I am so happy as winter has been long and dreary. It is a great time to start a blog (my first ever). There are so many things I want to do. I bet you are all dying to know what I have in mind. Here we go. I want to:

· Design and sew my own clothes (learn how to sew beyond the basics!)
· Knit things I can wear and have fun doing it.
· Decorate my house and have it just how I want it (and to know how I want it!).
· Experiment with cooking and to be a confident cook.
· Have friends over and not to freak out!
· Move up to Orchestra 3 and to continue improving on my cello.

· Improve my photography skills.
· Create art.
· Make my own jewelry.
· Have a flourishing flower garden and gorgeous arrangements inside.
· Grow lots of my own veges.

You will be pleased to know that I have made a start on some of these goals. I was so lucky to get a very fancy sewing machine for my birthday. I had 3 visitors today and didn't freak out. I have an audition for Orchestra 3 (and am freaking out about that). I have to take photos to show you my adventures, so my photography is sure to improve. I have been out in the garden today.

Look what I found. One divine camellia. And of course Monty couldn't resist a play, even though I insisted that I was trying to create a lovely blogworthy image.

I am so pleased with myself. Today I have learned how to make a blog and have even managed to add a picture! Not bad for a girl who prefers all things vintage to most things modern (bring on anaesthetics and dishwashers!).
