Well worth the wait

Zanny had a dear wee filly foal at around 2.00 am this morning. I was fortunate to be welcomed warmly by Zanny when I visited after school today. She let me stroke her foal as she lay sleeping peacefully. Everything about the wee poppet is just divine.

Her soft muzzle is whiskery, and she has a snip of white to match the moon on her forehead.
I think she will darken up to look very similar to her beautiful mummy. They have matching ankle socks on their back legs.
Zanny gave her a helpful nudge to get her up on her feet.
It is hard work managing those very long, wobbly legs. I was fascinated to see how Zanny tipped herself so that her wee girl could access a drink more easily.
Zanny has slimmed down amazingly. Look how tall the foal is already.
Zanny is gobbling up as much grass as she can. She looks great.
What a delight! All the way through Zanny's pregnancy I wondered about the foal within. It was strange thinking about the little creature curled up inside, as I sat on top of Zanny's ever expanding girth. I couldn't be more thrilled for Zanny. She looks very pleased with herself, don't you think?
